Overtake on a bend

Riding on an unfamiliar road I could see that the car behind was going to overtake on a left hand downhill bend. Expecting the driver to cut the corner (which happened) I had to modify my line around the bend. This took me too close to drain covers and other unsafe parts of the road. Another driver not thinkiing about the safety of vulnerable road users.
