It’s illegal for Cyclists to use the Road – The truck driver said

Close pass (less than 1m) from a skip truck. Catched up with him later and he told me that I MUST use the bike path that goes along the road, therefore it was illegal what I was doing. While I linked him to the road law, which clearly states: it is not mandatory to use a bike path if there is one along the road, but a bike lane on the road must be used if there is one.
