Failing to Give Way on shared path road crossing

I was riding East along the Anniversary Trail betweeen Harp Junction and Burke Road, and was approaching the Argyle Road crossing west of Burke Road.

This crossing has a "Give Way" sign facing the vehicles on Argyle Road. I was not confident that the driver in the approaching vehicle had seen me so I came to a stop in the centre of the crossing. Sure enough the driver just continued over the crossing and had no idea I was present. If I hadn't stopped I would have been hit.
