Car overtakes me by traffic island and immediately turns left – probably saves themselves 2 seconds

Commuting to work. With an island in the middle of the road a car overtakes me - thus has to drive close to me - Then proceeds to turn left in front of me. Probably saved themselves about 2 seconds.
