Baffling behaviour

I really cannot fathom why people do this. Driver tries to pass me within metres of an intersection, putting their car extremely close to me. Pointlessly dangerous. Unfortunately I can't read the number plate, otherwise would be reported to police.
Absolute intentional stupidity.
